KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian military action-drama Air Force The Movie: Selagi Bernyawa has raked in an impressive RM8 million at the local box office after it began screening on Thursday.
Actor Aiman Hakim Ridza who stars in the movie posted an entry on his Instagram account to share the good news today.
He wrote, "Thank you to eveyone in Malaysian, Singapore and Brunei!", and accompanied the post with an image of the movie featuring the box office takings.
The actor added: "God willing, Air Force The Movie will also be spreading its wings to cinemas in Japan, Korea and Taiwan! Pray for the success of all of us who had worked on this movie!"
Directed by Zulkarnain Azhar and Frank See, the movie follows the gripping story of a Paskau (the Royal Malaysian Air Force's special operations force) team tasked with protecting humanitarians serving in the fictional war-torn country of Namburi.
After their plane gets shot down by militants, the survivors which include three civilians are trapped in dangerous territory.
Back in Malaysia, upon discovery of the news, the air force prepares to mount a daring rescue while the survivors have to fight for their lives to make it to the rendezvous point.
Aside from Aiman, Air Force The Movie: Selagi Bernyawa also stars Datuk Adi Putra, Nas-T, Sara Ali, Pablo Amirul, Johan As'ari, Luqman Hafidz, Anas Ridzuan, Iman Corinne, Jack Tan, Azira Syafinaz, Scha Alyahya, Carmen Soo and more.
Currently screening in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei, the epic movie is presented by the Malaysian Armed Forces and TUDM together with five production companies, namely Multimedia Entertainment, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Astro, FXHammer Films and SixFun Media.
