KUALA LUMPUR: Singer-turned-entrepreneur Mizz Nina was awarded the Humanitarian Icon award by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) in conjunction with Maulidur Rasul (the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad) celebrations today.
The news shared on Jakim's social media accounts also included other awards presented to various distinguished personalities in differing fields.
Mizz Nina, whose real name is Shazrina Azman, is a motivational speaker, TV personality and co-founder of the Islamic lifestyle channel, DOPS TV.
The 42-year-old personality was previously a rapper, singer and dancer.
It was reported that she tranformed her life after performing the Haj with her family and former husband Noh Salleh in 2013.
She donned the hijab, began to fully practise Islam and has since conducted activities to reflect her love and dedication for the Deen.
