KUALA LUMPUR: 8TV Chinese New Year telemovie My Dream My Wish has won the national-level Asian Academy Creative Awards 2022's Best Single Drama, Telemovie or Anthology Episodes category.

8TV in a statement today said that the Chinese language drama would be representing Malaysia in the annual awards' Gala Finals on Dec 7 and 8.

The Gala Finals will be held at CHIJMES Hall in Singapore.

"Congratulations to everyone who was involved in this moving and educational telemovie. All the best in the Gala Finals next December," read the statement.

My Dream My Wish stars popular YouTuber Chai Chang Yong and veteran actress Angela Chan.

Chai plays a young man Chang who is rendered jobless during the pandemic, and in his moment of despair, he meets the spirit of his late father, who teaches him how to make a fortune.

However, Chang has to help his father complete a special cake which he was working on at the time of his death.

Chang, who lacks experience in the kitchen, works extra hard on his father's final recipe, and in the process, he gets closer to his strict and short-tempered mother as well as his resentful younger sister.

Chang starts to become a more disciplined and responsible son and brother.

My Dream My Wish also stars Khai Sin and Shu Sen, and is directed by acclaimed director Tan Seng Kiat of Shuttle Life fame.

The telemovie marks Chan's return to the small screen, having stepped away from the spotlight in the late 1990s.

Chan was a household name amongst Malaysian Chinese drama fans in the first half of the 1990s, and her best known dramas on TV2 included Torn Between Two Lovers, Lady Of The Land and All In The Family.

Chan had cameo roles in several Chinese movies in the last decade such as Ice Kacang Puppy Love.
