KUALA LUMPUR: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, has been appointed as the President of the 13th Session of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) Assembly in Vienna, Austria, today.
Wisma Putra announced that Azalina's selection was decided unanimously, marking a historic achievement as Malaysia has, for the first time, been honoured with this position.
"This reflects the international community's recognition of the Malaysian government's commitment to combating corruption. It also signifies confidence in Datuk Seri Azalina's leadership in legal reform and governance," it stated.
Established in Austria in 2011, IACA functions as an international centre of excellence and research focused on anti-corruption efforts, serving as a primary training hub for professionals, particularly those from anti-corruption agencies.
Malaysia, through the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), has actively participated in IACA and previously held the role of Vice President of the IACA Assembly on four occasions.
"Malaysia expresses gratitude for the trust and strong support extended by IACA members in electing Datuk Seri Azalina," it added.
"Malaysia remains committed to close collaboration with IACA and strategic partners in advancing the anti-corruption agenda and upholding principles of justice and good governance on the international stage."
