KUALA LUMPUR: Popular South Korean singer and actor Lee Ji-han was one of the casualties of last Saturday's deadly Halloween crush in central Seoul's Itaewon. He was 24.
Two agencies who represented Lee, 935 Entertainment and 9Ato Entertainment, confirmed the unfortunate news via Twitter yesterday.
The official statements added that his funeral will take place at Myongji Hospital's funeral hall in Goyang, Gyeonggi.
Lee shot to fame after competing in the second season of the popular Korean singing competition, Produce 101, where 101 K-Pop hopefuls compete to be part of a new 11-member boy band.
In 2019, he went on to star in the web drama Today Was Another Namhyun Day, alongside Choi Woo-jung.
The tragedy, considered the worst disaster in years, prompted South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol to declare a national mourning period on Sunday that will continue until Nov 5.
Lee was scheduled to appear in the upcoming MBC series, Season Of Kkokdu which would have seen him star alongside actors Kim Jung-hyun and Im Soo-hyang.
In the series, Lee was set to play the ex-boyfriend of the female lead. It was reported that the actor had just finished filming the series in September.
