#Showbiz: HK action hero Yuen Wah, 70, surprises many with killer moves

KUALA LUMPUR: Alongside Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and James Yuen Biao, veteran action hero Yuen Wah, 70, was among the Seven Little Fortunes.

They were the famous Beijing Opera troupe of child entertainers who went on to become Hong Kong's biggest action stars of the 1980s.

Yuen Wah, who also became an action choreographer, has starred in and worked on more than 180 films and television series, including Burning Flame II, Kungfu Hustle, Australia, and most recently Shang Chi And The Legend Of The 10 Rings.

Singapore entertainment portal 8 Days reported yesterday that Yuen Wah, who now lives in Canada with his wife, children and grandchildren, recently showed that he still had his "slick, killer moves" in a martial arts gym.

A brief video recorded by a Netizen showed Yuen Wah executing a move called A Kip Up. He laid himself down on a carpet and rolled his knees to his head before kicking them up and standing up.

Many Netizens were impressed with his fitness level and agility, and remarked that he was a "martial arts hero for all seasons".

"Wow! This is too good to be true. You are amazing, sir," said a Netizen identified only as HCS.

The late martial arts legend Bruce Lee frequently used Yuen Wah as a stunt double in his films, and it should not be a surprise that he still remains the "best of the best".

Yuen Wah, or Sam Yung Kai-Chi began his acting career in 1972, when he famously played a Japanese martial artist who made Lee "crawl like a dog" in Fist Of Fury.

In recent years, his best known role was that of The Landlord in Stephen Chow's 2004 martial arts comedy Kung Fu Hustle.
