Datuk Fazley Yaakob will kick-start his singing career with some new singles
CELEBRITY chef, singer and entrepreneur Datuk Fazley Yaakob is marking 27 years in show business, rebranding himself as Malaysia's singing chef.
"That's who I am. I've never lost interest in singing, and 2023 marks my return to the studio. Right now I am recording new songs with my old friend, DJ Fuzz, and our third collaborator is a female singer whom we will reveal later."
FEATHERS IN A CAP
The famous saying, "A jack of all trades and a master of none", does not apply to Fazley. Instead, he believes in being a master of some.
"It's good to be a jack of all trades. However, you still have to be a master of what you love most and in my case I want to be a master of singing, public speaking and cooking."
Fazley's late father, Datuk Yaakob Mohammad, always encouraged him to aim high in life, and get as many "feathers in his cap", for only then will one live his life to the fullest.
"My late father always told me, all of us must maximise our potential and reach for the stars. The sky's our limit."
LEAVING A LEGACY
Fazley wants to do his best in anything he is invited to do. He wants to challenge himself and leave a legacy for his family.
"However, I will only make myself do it if I believe I can. If it is entertainment-related, such as writing and composing, playing the guitar and the drums, I am game for it. After all, I want my fans and friends to remember that I began my journey as a singer!"
When asked about his ultimate dream as a chef, Fazley said that he hoped to organise a Malaysian food festival in London.
"Malaysian food is known all over the world, and many tourists love our diverse dishes. I'd be the happiest chef in the world if I get a food festival organised in the very city where I produced a world-class concert for Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza two decades ago," he said.
HEALTHY FOOD
"I'm back with more recipes for Starbucks Coffee and the three hospitals which I've been creating healthy food for, namely Pantai Hospital, Prince Court Medical Centre and Gleneagles Medical Centre.
"The other brands include two restaurants, a doughnut brand, a pau brand and a flour company," said Fazley, who will be the ambassador for 13 brands, ranging from cat food and baby food to popular restaurant chains and a furniture company.
These brands are both foreign and homegrown ones, and they include a South Korean supermarket chain and a South Korean contact lens brand.
