KUALA LUMPUR: The award-winning Dama Orchestra is back on the big stage this April 7 to 16 with a brand new celebration of the best of Chinese golden oldies.
To be held at the Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre in One Utama, Petaling Jaya, the orchestra's two-hour comeback special produced by Khor Seng Chew and directed by Pun Kai Loon is a musical trip through Chinese movies of yesteryears and relives the magic of 1930s to 1960s Shanghai and Hong Kong.
In those days, the cinemas reigned supreme, Shaw Brothers and Cathay Organisation spearheaded musical genres on the silver screen, reaching far into the Chinese communities in Southeast Asia including Malaysia and Singapore.
The sumptuous visual and musical feast will highlight signature songs and dance tunes popularised by Zhou Xuan, Bai Guang, Li Xianglan, Yao Lee, Lin Dai and Ge Lan among other legends.
The talented cast of the show comprises singers Angie Cheah, Bui Yik Ling, Evelyn Toh, Kara Yee, Yon Lynn, Liow Jun Yi, Sean Toh and Stefano Chen among others.
There will be 8pm shows on Fridays and Saturdays and 3pm shows on Sundays.
Tickets are priced from RM88 to RM288. Call 03-62019108 or 012-2973 008 or visit www.dama.asia.
