SUBANG JAYA: Legendary rock singer Datuk Amy is grateful there is no longer bad blood between him and fellow rocker Datuk Awie.
When met, the 65-year-old Search frontman likened the previous rift to water under the bridge and added that whatever quarrels they had was akin to a 'brotherly squabble'.
"Alhamdulillah, the two of us have rekindled our friendship. To me, he has been a friend from the very start.
"Whatever quarrels that happened then, it's like a brotherly squabble and nothing more. So, I just put all that aside to look forward to better things. After all, he is one of the artistes that people regard as the 'best' in rock and roll.
"What's most important is that all of that is in the past and we have reconciled," he said.
Now that Amy has buried the hatchet with the 55-year-old Wings frontman, fans of the two legendary rock bands can look forward to them working together musically.
"Yes, Awie and I are in the midst of planning a special collaboration, but I can't give away too much now. Just know that it's happening and it will be something good from us," he said.
The rocker, whose full name is Suhaimi Abdul Rahman, was met during the launch event for the KEPCI Music Fest 2023 in the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall, here, today.
Organised by KFC Malaysia in conjunction with the popular fast food chain's 50th anniversary celebration, the festival will feature three concerts on Aug 26 at Stadium Malawati Shah Alam, Oct 6 in Sabah and Oct 21 in stadium Larkin Johor.
Asides Amy, other artistes set to perform during the concerts include Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Ella, Misha Omar, Bunkface, Bunga, Coex, Dolla, Dalia Farhana, Estranged, Evelyn Feroza, Forceparkbois, Insomniacks, Luqman Podolski, Masdo, MK (K-Clique), SOG and Yonnyboii .
It was previously reported that Awie, whose full name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, had decided to reconcile with Amy recently after almost four years of enmity.
Their relationship was said to have become strained after the passing of Search's drummer, the late Yazit Ahmad, in 2019.
Amy was alleged to have taken offence towards a statement by Awie which had implied that the former had neglected the ailing Search member then.
