#Showbiz: Azira Shafinaz wins Asian Academy Creative Award for best comedy actress

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Azira Shafinaz was named Best Comedy (Male/Female) Actor at the recent Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA 2023) for her role in the drama, Ijab Kabut.

The 32-year-old artiste's win qualifies her to compete at the Asia Pacific level during the AAA 2023 Grand Awards and Gala Finals night, set to take place in Singapore on Dec 7.

"Alhamdulillah, this is the biggest recognition after eight years of being an artiste.

"I didn't expect to win and be able to represent the country. I couldn't believe it when I got a message from the producer, Joanne Goh.

"What's more humbling is knowing that other great names like Tiz Zaqyah and Siti Saleha also won in other categories," said Azira, who is also a member of girl group De Fam, in a recent Harian Metro report.

"People generally know me as a member of De Fam but with this recognition, I hope more people will see my talent and interest in acting.

"I'm very grateful that my opportunity to act has been well received. Winning this and advancing to the next level really motivates me to do better, " she said.

Azira added that although she had been an actress for close to a decade, she was still not satisfied and wanted to explore playing different characters.

"At the moment, I'm not thinking of stopping. I have not yet reached a level of feeling satisfied, so if possible, I would like to continue acting, get involved in more great works and then, be nominated in even bigger awards," she said.
