KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer-songwriter Faizal Tahir's two-year-old daughter Maryam Tahirah is doing well after heart surgery a month ago.
Faizal, in a TikTok video yesterday, said that his youngest of seven children was always delighted and eager to meet her therapist, identified only as Aishah, every week.
"Thank God, Maryam is in good spirits and cheerful as she always is.
"She will continue to undergo therapy to strengthen her physically, at her own pace," said Faizal, who actively participates in his daughter's therapy classes.
"Consistency is the key in making sure she can achieve her best potential."
Maryam has a heart condition as well as Down's Syndrome. She was born in December 2021.
In a news report in March last year, Faizal described Maryam as his child with "certain specialties from God".
Doctors told him and his wife Siti Raihanim Noran that Maryam suffered from Down's Syndrome and this led to other health problems.
"We are thankful that Maryam has come into our lives and is our joy," said Faizal back then.
Faizal and Siti Raihanim have been married since 2001 and have three sons and four daughters, including Maryam.
