KUALA LUMPUR: The late singer Jay Jay's wish to buy a new vehicle never came to fruition following his death at Thomson Hospital in Kota Damansara, Selangor last night.
His youngest child Nur Camelia Mohd Fauzi, 28, said that her warded father had wanted to get a luxury car after being discharged from the hospital, according to a Berita Harian report today.
"He told us that he wanted a Volvo after he was allowed to go home.
"We didn't agree or disagree with him then, but little did we know that that would be his last request," she said of her father who breathed his last at 9.27pm last night. He was 67.
Sharing a little of her father's personality, Nur Camelia described the legendary singer as an exemplary father and a person with a true artistic spirit.
"As a father, he really loved his family and grandchildren. He never took notice of other people's shortcomings and was truly a good father.
"At his age, if there were Raya shows, he would still want to perform.
In fact, even when his health was not so good due to heart problems, he would still want to accept singing offers.
"Thank God, I was able to be with him till the end. There were no specific messages or requests but he had asked me to carry out my responsibility to look after my mother," she said.
Nur Camelia added that after suffering two strokes her father's health began to deteriorate.
"It became worse after he had a heart procedure, as there were also some internal organ failure," she said.
His remains were put to rest at the Bukit Tandang Muslim Cemetery in Subang Jaya, Selangor earlier today.
About 200 family members, relatives and friends attended the burial.
Among his fellow industry friends who attended the proceedings were Datuk S Atan, Datuk Hattan, Datuk Freddie Fernandez, Aris Ariwatan, Zamani, Azura Aziz and Azan of Ruffedge.
