#Showbiz: Ruhainies' 'controversy' has resulted in overseas acting offers

KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Ruhainies Zainul Ilyas, 31, said that her arrest for khalwat with Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz has turned out to be a "blessing in disguise".

Ruhainies said in an interview with Harian Metro yesterday that it had resulted in her receiving acting offers from several film companies including overseas ones.

"Yes, what happened has certainly dented my image. But this cloud has come with a silver lining in that I have received a few acting offers from local as well as foreign production companies including those from China," said Ruhainies, adding that she could not furnish further details for now.

"I am still in discussions with these companies and I pray that my acting career will continue to progress despite what happened."

Ruhainies also said that she was lucky that work on her coming drama series with Aliff titled Terjerat was not halted and filming had just been completed.

"Thank God none of my projects has been cancelled, and it is work as usual for me."

Ruhainies and Aliff were nabbed at her condominium in the federal capital last March 8.

Three days later Aliff's singer and actress wife Bella Astillah filed for divorce at the Federal Territories Syariah Court in Jalan Duta.
