#Showbiz: Taiwanese actress Rosalyn Ku battling stage four cancer

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Taiwanese actress Rosalyn Ku is undergoing treatment for stage four cancer.

Ku, 57, said in a recent interview with Taiwanese entertainment portal ET Today that she was hospitalised at the Beijing Medical University at the end of April to undergo surgery after doctors detected a malignant tumour in her rectum and colon.

Back then, doctors told her that she would recover after the procedure and would not need to undergo chemotherapy, but unfortunately they later found that the cancer had spread to other parts of her body.

"I didn't seek proper medical treatment from a doctor. I took medicines on my own," she said.

Ku admitted that it was initially difficult for her to accept her cancer diagnosis.

"When I first learnt of my diagnosis, I was in tears."

After some time, Ku finally came to terms that it was something she needed to accept.

"I have to face this bravely and live with it," said Ku, adding that she was optimistic that she would live long.

Ku was the first Taiwanese woman to grace the cover of the Asian edition of Playboy magazine in 1990.

She made her acting debut a year later in the film The Silent Thrush.

She married a businessman in 2012, but they were divorced four years later.
