#Showbiz: Catch China dance show 'Scavenger of Lights' in June

KUALA LUMPUR: The BeijingDance/LDTX company from China will be performing a dance show, titled Scavenger of Light, at the Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House in Johor on Jun 1 and the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre on June 5.

Led by artistic director Willy Tsao Sing Yuen with choreography by Liu Bin and music by Jiang Miao, the 60-minute show will be the company's first show in Malaysia.

LDTX will also hold workshops and sharing sessions at Asia City Dance Academy in Johor on June 1 and at Damansara Performing Arts Centre in Selangor on June 3.

The artists from China will share their signature dance style with Malaysian artists, performers, and dancers.

Together, they will explore the boundaries of dance and the appeal of contemporary and traditional movement techniques.

LDTX is a civilian-run professional modern dance company, co-founded in 2005 by Tsao and Li Han Zhong.

The company, which has been invited to perform nationally and internationally in more than 20 countries, also curates and organises significant international cultural festivities such as the Beijing Dance Festival, the Greater Bay Dance Festival, the Living Dance Festival, the China Dance Station alliance, and the Lunar Charioteer program.

The Scavenger of Light show in Malaysia, which features 14 dancers from China, is organised by the local dance company, Dua Space Dance Theatre.

Last year, Dua Space was invited to participate in the Greater Bay Dance Festival in Shenzhen at LDTX's invitation.

"We are extremely honoured to invite LDTX to Malaysia for a collaboration.

"Their professionalism and unique dance style will bring an unprecedented audio-visual feast to Malaysian audiences," said Dua Space founder Anthony Meh in a recent statement.
