KUALA LUMPUR: Lead singer Amir of pop rock band UK's is appealing to the public to assist his son Mohd Aliff Naim whose house in Taman Mewah, Kajang burnt down last Saturday.
Amir said in a Harian Metro report today that the fire broke out at the top floor of Mohd Aliff's house around 9pm and his family lost all their belongings.
"I was shocked to hear of this from our family WhatsApp group. I quickly drove to Kajang to see if they were all right.
"Thank God they all were safe, even though they lost almost everything. The raging fire spread very fast," said Amir.
Amir's daughter-in-law Nur Farhana Nor Afandi said that they lost about RM200,000 worth of belongings in the fire which began in the store room of their top floor.
"Mohd Aliff and I were watching television on the ground floor and quickly ran upstairs when it happened. Alas, we couldn't save our belongings.
"We are currently putting up at a relative's house. We plan to repair our house, but it is rather costly," she said, adding that they hoped to receive financial help from certain bodies such as the Zakat Centre.
