KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Nora Danish, 42, has strongly denied that financial problems led to the end of her seven-year marriage to businessman Nedim Nazri, 41.
"That is just not true. I hope everybody respects our decision to end our marriage and not come up with theories about why it ended.
"Both of us greatly emphasise the importance of family harmony for the sake of our children," said Nora in an interview with Berita Harian yesterday.
Nora added that she and Nedim had been "apart" for the last six months and had tried their best to save their marriage.
"We did our best, but at the end of the day, God knows best."
Nora said that their children and step children know about their divorce, and as parents and step-parents they will continue to work closely together to raise them.
Nora even celebrated Fathers' Day with Nedim and the children recently.
"Our aim in life is to raise our children with love and positivity. Let us all pray for the best."
Nora and Nedim tied the knot on March 30, 2017, and were blessed with a son, Mohamed Neqayl, who is six years old.
Previously, Nora was married to Datuk Rizal Ashram Ramli or Jejai on June 20, 2006, and had a son, Putra Rayqal, 15, before their divorce in 2008.
Nedim had previously been married to Nabilah Khan in 2011 and divorced two years later. From that marriage, they had a son, Mohamed Nedrin, 12.
The divorce proceedings took place at the Federal Territories Syariah Court in Jalan Duta at 8.34pm yesterday.
