KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran choreographer Datin Sharifah Mahani Syed Kassim or Mak Ngah, the widow of iconic composer Datuk Suhaimi Mohd Zain or Pak Ngah, has died of cancer.
Sharifah Mahani's death was confirmed by theatre star Kamarulzaman Taib or Che Kem of 1957: Hati Malaya fame today.
Che Kem told Berita Harian that Sharifah Mahani breathed her last around noon at her house, and was surrounded by her children.
"I received the sad news of Mak Ngah's demise from her daughter Siti Syafrina Suhaimi via WhatsApp around noon," he said, adding that she had been down with the illness since last year.
Che Kem also said that Sharifah Mahani's remains will be brought to Kampung Baru Mosque and she will be laid to rest at a nearby cemetery after Zohor prayers.
Sharifah Mahani and Pak Ngah have two children, Siti Syafrina and Megat Mohd Syahraini.
Pak Ngah died of a heart attack in Tanjung Pinang, Indonesia on Sept 25, 2018.
