#SHOWBIZ: Generasi DFP's inaugural concert featuring fresh talents on July 24

KUALA LUMPUR: The new initiative from Dewan Filharmonik Petronas (DFP), Generasi DFP, aims to provide a platform for singers, songwriters, and aspiring musicians to showcase their undiscovered talents.

Fans of fresh indie music can expect three concerts in the series with the first set to take place on July 24 (8.30pm) at DFP.

The debut concert will feature performances by LOKO, Fadzly, Syiqin Azln, Ruhil Ariana Wilson and Ee Vone.

LOKO's music video for its debut single, Pujaan Hati, garnered 1.6 million views on YouTube and became the catalyst for a debut

album, Mata Kaca, produced in 2019.

The indie quartet's song, Gundah Gulana, was also shortlisted in Anugerah Lagu Indie.

Singer-songwriter Ee Vone's music is an entertaining combination of R&B, pop, and soul.

She has produced eight singles since 2022 besides participating in many gigs in her hometown in Penang.

Syiqin Azln, 25, produced an EP entitled Selamat Pulang which caught the attention of music lovers besides her involvement in showcases such as RIUH, Kuala Lumpur.

Her composition Pelangi Kembali was chosen as the original soundtrack for a TV drama.

A staunch advocate of Malay traditional music, Fadzly has gained immense experience participating in singing competitions in his hometown Johor.

The 27-year-old singer is also the champion of the 'I Can See Your Voice' singing competition.

Ruhil Ariana Wilson has completed her classical piano studies with a distinction grade and is a recipient of a high achiever award from Cambridge International Examinations before enrolling for courses from Berklee Online.

At 19, she always performs her work with her favourite keyboard.

Generasi DFP was launched in March and garnered a strong interest from all over the country with a total of 100 audition videos received from artistes or bands ranging from 18 to 30 years old.

Through a selection process by a DFP jury panel, 15 talents were shortlisted to present their debut concerts at DFP.

The rest of the artistes and bands chosen were Ruebben Chelvan, Dekwa Cuwa, Amrita Soon, Khalyn Mulyani, Jo Lixian and Mardiana, as well as Meruked, Saiko Rama, Cherry On Top and Sounds Like Sunday.

These talents will be featured in following Generasi DFP concerts scheduled for Sept 25 and Nov 20.
