#SHOWBIZ: Siti Nurhaliza's niece wins gold medal at WCOPA in Hollywood

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza's niece, Ummi Umairah Saiful Anuar, 13, has won a gold medal at the 27th World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) at the Long Beach Performing Arts Center in California, USA, today.

Umairah took home the Junior Champion Vocalist Of The World category beating four other contestants from the United Arab Emirates and South Africa.

The happy news was shared by her mother, Siti Nursairah Taruddin, on Instagram.

Umairah's winning performance was for her rendition of Aretha Franklin's classic soul track, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.

The talented teen's victory also saw her famous aunt leaving a congratulatory message on Umairah's social media account.

"Congratulations Umai! You successfully brought a gold medal home and made Malaysia famous," said Siti.

Umairah had initially competed in five categories, namely Contemporary, Open, R&B, World and Variety, and successfully advanced to the semi-finals of the R&B category in the 13-to-15-year-old age group.
