#SHOWBIZ: K-pop star Jae-joong gives adoptive parents RM18k each time he visits them

KUALA LUMPUR: South Korean singer-songwriter Kim Jae-joong recently shared his personal life story on the YouTube channel Neighbourhood Friend Kangnami, revealing that he was an adopted son by a couple who also raised eight girls who were older.

"I have eight older sisters, many of whom are close in age.

"When I think about how hard it must have been for my parents, I feel I must always do well by them," said Kim to the host and fellow artiste Kangnam, in the video.

The 38-year-old singer also admitted that growing up, he used to fight a lot with his elder siblings, especially the eighth sister.

"I was adopted when I was young, and there's less than a year difference between us.

"She hid this fact and never celebrated her birthday properly because it would reveal the age gap," he said.

He also told Kangnam that he would give his parents KRW5 million (RM18,000) each time he visits them, to which Kangnam's mother said she was jealous of his filial commitment.

Kim jokingly suggested that Kangnam give his mother a card.
