#SHOWBIZ: Jackie Chan returns with screen spectacle 'A Legend'

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan is set to thrill local action and martial arts fans with his latest film, A Legend.

Fans can expect the 70-year-old artiste to showcase more amazing stuntwork in this sequel to The Myth, which was his hit movie from 2005.

Featuring elements of adventure and fantasy, the new film will also showcase a different side of the famous actor who has been in the film industry for six decades.

One of the highlights of A Legend is the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to render a much younger-looking version of the longstanding action star.

Directed by Stanley Tong, who also helmed The Myth, the new film revolves around Chan's Professor Fang, an archaeologist who discovers remnants of an artifact found by his students during a glacier expedition are similar to the jade pendant he saw in his dream.

Realising that the pendant connects the world of dreams with reality, the professor sets out on a thrilling adventure as he leads a team of researchers on a long journey to the Glacier Temple to find the truth behind his dreams.

Aside from Chan, the 129-minute Mandarin language film also stars Lay Zhang, Na Zha, Aarif Lee, Li Chen, Peng Xiaoran, and Zheng Yecheng.

A Legend, which began screening in China on July 12, has so far been creating a huge buzz on social media.

The film opens in Malaysian cinemas today.
