KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Yuna, 37, has urged netizens who do not like her appearance to unfollow her on social media.
In a recent Instagram post, Yuna said that even though many of her fans advised her to ignore all of her naysayers, she felt the need to speak her mind.
"It pains me to hear negative and cruel remarks from toxic people all the time.
"I'm surprised to still receive such comments after 15 years in the music world," said Yuna who was especially hurt when certain people told her to "take off her hijab".
"Is this what we want in society? Aren't we taught to love and support each other?" she said.
Yuna added that those who said that she had changed did not really know her well.
"Feel free to unfollow me if you do not like my image.
"And for those who miss the old Yuna, remember that you don't know the old Yuna either."
Yuna said that she was "sending love and light" to all haters, because they were "in dire need of it."
She also thanked all netizens who still supported and understood her.
