#SHOWBIZ: Awie to ex-Wings members: 'Don't dictate our band'

KUALA LUMPUR: Wings vocalist Datuk Awie has urged former band members not to interfere in the affairs of his rock group.

In a Harian Metro report yesterday, Awie said that former Wings member Mel's recent statement that all original members of the band reconcile and reunite was not realistic.

"Actually, I would love to welcome back our former guitarist JoBranko. But the truth is we can no longer be a Wings with four members — Awie, Eddie, Black and JoBranko like it was back then.

"In reality we cannot force others to recreate our past lineup 100 per cent. JoBranko has moved on. I have moved on too.

"JoBranko already has a good band. Barbarik is very good," he said when met at the TRIAD Concert press conference at a restaurant here yesterday.

Awie, 56, urged former Wings members not to impose their views on the band and instead allow the existing members to manage the group as best as they can.

"At this age, we don't want to stress ourselves.

"I don't want people to point fingers at me," said Awie.

The TRIAD Concert will feature Awie as the singer for three iconic rock bands — Wings, Search Kid Din, and Dragon Malaya.

The concert organised by Rumah Produksi Merah will take place at Zepp Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Hang Tuah here at 8.30pm on Feb 14.
