SUPER singer Jaclyn Victor is preparing a special "gift" for her fans as she eagerly awaits her first solo concert at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on Oct 12.
The KL-born singer, affectionately known as Jac, has released 'Sesal Tak Bermakna' specially for the upcoming event.
She hopes that fans will love it and continue to support her two-decade long entertainment career.
Produced by Gerald Sellan and Mux Ryzor, 'Sesal Tak Bermakna' has Adrian Puan and Gerald as composers. The song made its debut on the airwaves on Aug 23.
Despite its title, which could be hinting at "regrets for past actions", Jac, who rose to fame in 2004 when she was crowned the first Malaysian Idol and is known for her power-packed vocals, sees a "different side" to her latest song.
Jac, 45, said the song was a lot "darker" than her often upbeat anthems such as 'Gemilang' and 'Kejutkan Aku', and that was a "progression" of sorts.
She said while 'Sesal Tak Bermakna' is a pop ballad, it is accompanied by a melancholic piano sound that signifies the "spirit" that every person needs to have after facing a sad episode of life.
"Perhaps 'Sesal Tak Bermakna' sounds like regret for what has been done but I see it as an opportunity for the listeners to learn a lesson from something unfortunate that happened in their lives, and wisen up to overcome it and work their way towards a better future."
Jac said 'Sesal Tak Bermakna', which comes hot on the heels of 'Kejutkan Aku', tells the story of a person who rises up again after a failed love affair.
"At its heart, it is a story of one's setback in his or her love life. The love story did not bear sweet fruit," said Jac.
"'Sesal Tak Bermakna' teaches us to overcome regret and forgive ourselves for our missteps in life.
"In a way, it tells you what does not kill you actually makes you stronger in life. That is the spirit behind my latest song."
Jac said the music video for her new song showcases her acting talent once again.
"I have not been acting for a long time, but I cherish my role in the 2009 movie 'Talentime'. It is great to play someone interesting in the music video, which was wrapped up within a short time."
Jac said she was "very excited" to have her 20th anniversary concert and was looking forward to welcoming thousands of fans to celebrate the milestone in her musical career.
The two-hour Jaclyn Victor First Solo Concert is presented by Rag Doll Records and supported by Cuckoo and Kaimirra.
Jac will perform 'Sesal Tak Bermakna' live for the first time, in addition to more than a dozen other songs that have placed her on the music map since 2004.
"It will be a journey of nostalgia for my fans and I. I'll be sharing lots of interesting stories about my songs, and I'm working hard to make sure that I'm fit, strong and healthy for my big day."
Jac added: This solo concert will be an intimate meeting with fans and a token of my love and appreciation to those who have never stopped supporting my artistic journey and motivated me to go to greater heights as a singer."
The concert's music director, Genervie Kam, is a long-time collaborator and friend of Jac and she will be accompanied by more than a dozen talented musicians throughout the show.
