#SHOWBIZ: Linkin Park recruits new female singer and drummer

KUALA LUMPUR: American rock band Linkin Park has selected new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong of the band Dead Sara and Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer, as a drummer.

The band announced the news as well as a new single, The Emptiness Machine, during a recent live performance event, according to Variety.

The song, which represents the band's first new music release in seven years, is also the lead track for an upcoming album, From Zero, set to be released on Nov 15.

This will be the rock group's first full-length studio release since 2017's One More Light, that came out two months before the death of lead vocalist Chester Bennington.

Original members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell and Joe Hahn along with the two new additions will be touring soon.

According to a press release, the original four members met up and worked with numerous musicians in recent years and "found a special kinship with Armstong and Brittain."

Talking about the new album, Shinoda said: "Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This album title refers to both this humble beginning and the journey we're currently undertaking."

"Sonically and emotionally, it is about past, present, and future — embracing our signature sound, but new and full of life.

"It was made with a deep appreciation for our new and longtime bandmates, our friends, our family, and our fans.

"We are proud of what Linkin Park has become over the years, and excited about the journey ahead," he said in a statement from the band.
