#SHOWBIZ: I've lost the love of my life, says Maman of wife's death

KUALA LUMPUR: "There's a heart but there's no feeling anymore. There's a soul that no longer vibrates. I don't know what else to say."

This was what singer Maman said about the passing of his beloved wife, Faizah Mohamed Amin or Fayza, who died of ovarian cancer at age 56 last Sunday.

The 55-year-old artiste, whose real name is Rosman Lamri, said that he was faced with challenge after challenge and felt that God was doing this to test him.

Maman, who is also the frontman for 1990s rock group Teacher's Pet, added that his marriage to Fayza, who was also the daughter of the late legendary actor M Amin, was only fated to last for four-and-a-half years.

"At this age, in my 50s, I had found the greatest love and woman.

"We have been married for more than four years and I've had many happy days in my life with her. We have never been sad. We would cap every night off by forgiving each other," he said in a Harian Metro report today.

Maman added that she would wake up every night to pray tahajud (night prayers).

Every morning, he would also be lulled by the melodious recitation of verses from the Quran by Fayza.

"She was very loyal to the religion, country and her siblings. She liked to donate to the orphans without people knowing.

"Her father was also the great actor, M Amin, who was a giant in his field. When we got married, she really wanted to rest a little and work at home.

"It just so happened that after we got married, she was offered two jobs as a board director at the same time.

"She told me that this was my rezeki, my marriage rezeki," he said.

Previously, her position as the CEO of a company did not leave much time for Fayza to spend with Maman, her children and their new family.

Fayza was a Malaysian tech industry leader who held senior positions with a career that spanned over two decades.

Maman said that Fayza, who breathed her last at about 8pm at the Prince Court Medical Centre, here, was also a great lyricist.

"But she never thought she was a great writer. She always told people that I had asked her to write lyrics because she was a math expert. She always used to say that these lyrics were just mathematical.

"Last year, I launched my album Aku. When I was about to conduct the promotions, that was the first time she was admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit), so I stopped the promotional activities.

"My priority was to my wife who was also my angel. I put my album aside.

"I spent the year just helping her as she received treatment. She seemed to be recovering.

"She had various complications but was a very patient person. Even though she had cancer, she never made it seem like she had cancer. She had asked me to help her look for other treatments.

"We spent our days looking for good hospital treatments and alternative therapies," he said.

Previously, Maman also lost his only child, Mohd Raihan, in a road accident six years ago.

Before that, his father also died.
