#SHOWBIZ: Suki touches hearts with new song 'Terlerai'

POPULAR singer Suki Low returns to the spotlight of the country's music industry with the launch of her latest single titled 'Terlerai'.

This song is also the OST for the 28-episode drama series 'Salju Rindu Di Bumi Auckland' which begins broadcasting exclusively on Tonton today.

Suki, a familiar name in Malaysian entertainment over the last two decades, began her singing career after winning the popular reality talent show 'One In A Million' Season 1 on 8TV in 2006.

Since then, Suki has carved a name for herself as a versatile singer with a mesmerising voice, as well as her participation in various singing and acting projects such as 'Gegar Vaganza'.

'Terlerai' is Suki's second single with Alternate Records which not only marks her return to the recording studio in a decade, but also shows her substantial vocal development.

In a recent statement, Suki said: "This song is different from what I've sung before. It combines classical elements and a melody that reminds me of a music box song that invites nostalgia for fans of retro music."

She added that the recording process of the song took only about six hours, although 'Terlerai' was a vocally challenging song.

"I needed to hold my breath for a lengthy period for the song because a verse near the chorus had to be delivered non-stop and many parts had to be whispered," she said.

However, with lots of mental discipline and determination, Suki managed to deliver the song with soul, emotion and appreciation.

Suki hopes that 'Terlerai' will touch the hearts of listeners, especially those who are going through a healing phase of their lives, and those who have suffered painful losses and breakups.

'Terlerai' is produced by popular composer and lyricist Mas Dewangga, and Suki greatly enjoyed working with him.

She said: "Mas Dewangga is a very creative person and the songs he creates are always able to capture the hearts of listeners.

"He is a humble, relaxed person and is willing to give space to singers to shape the delivery of songs according to their own style."

The melody and lyrics of the song take listeners through an emotional journey, where every part of the melody will touch their feelings and make them reflect on their past experiences for the better.

Mas Dewangga said: "As a pop ballad, this song includes elements of life that are often experienced by the public, especially in the context of relationships that change over time."

He added that he was impressed with Suki, as she successfully expressed the emotions present throughout the song with her calm and soulful vocal delivery.

"This song was inspired by the storyline of the drama 'Salju Rindu Di Bumi Auckland'.

"The idea to create 'Terlerai' was born from the desire to depict the emotional journey of a love story that is full of challenges, but ends on a happy and satisfying note."

'Terlerai' was more than just a song, he added, as it was a story about the protagonist lovers' feelings wrapped in a heartfelt melody.

"Suki brings elements of authenticity and maturity in her delivery, making this song really come alive."

Throughout her career, Suki has lent her voice to various drama and movie OSTs.

Among them are 'Siapaku' ('Camp Rock', 2008), 'Terlalu Mencintaimu' ('Naziha', 2011) and 'Nelangsa' ('The Assistant', 2022).

'Terlarai' is now available on all leading online music applications and streaming platforms.

'Salju Rindu Di Bumi Auckland', directed by Shuhaimi Zulkefli, is a love story that has a star-studded cast comprising Riena Diana, Keith Foo, Nabil Aqil and Emelda Rosemila, among others.
