#SHOWBIZ: A theatrical twist on happily ever after

A new theatre production, Twisted: A Different Kind of Fairy Tale, offers a different take on beloved characters from various fairy tales by injecting a fresh, contemporary plot for modern audiences to enjoy these timeless stories.

The hilarious and highly entertaining show, perfect for the entire family, will be staged at KLPAC's Pentas 2, from July 18 to 21.

Presented by KLPAC and Big Nose Productions, Twisted features strong, independent, and realistic lead characters, providing both girls and boys with empowering role models.

The story begins with the tale of King George and Queen Mary, a royal couple desperate for an heir to secure their power.

Seeking the help of a witch, they are blessed with twin daughters under one condition: the children must be raised to embody kindness and good virtues. However, not everything goes according to plan.

Years pass, and Princess Olivia grows into a stunningly beautiful princess, attracting suitors from every kingdom.

Despite her beauty, Olivia is vain, selfish, and rude.

Her twin sister, Princess Otilia, is quite the opposite. She prefers reading books, climbing trees, and learning swordsmanship over practicing royal decorum.

When Princess Olivia receives a proposal from Prince Henry, a future king, the news is celebrated throughout the castle.

To fund the grand wedding, the royals propose a tax increase, prompting Princess Otilia to oppose the order, leading to her banishment to the enchanted forest.

Meanwhile, Prince Henry, lost in the enchanted forest after a victorious battle, meets Princess Otilia. They form a genuine friendship, and Henry begins to fall for Otilia, unaware that she is Olivia's twin sister.

Adapted and directed by Fa Abdul, Twisted: A Different Kind of Fairy Tale stars Karam Tabba, Sidhart Joe Dev, Swarna Naidu, Violacea Low, Hilda Looi, Mithran Balakrishnan, Caroline Yeoh, Alvin Looi, Karynn Tan and Ilia Wong.
