AFTER nearly 20 years of being known as Pija Yasin or Pija of Mentor in the entertainment industry, singer Norafizah Mohd Yasin has chosen Ora Fiza as her new stage name.
The 36-year-old artiste, who was champion of reality talent programme Mentor in 2005, said the rebranding was suggested by Super Red Records co-founder, Richard Chua.
"The name Ora Fiza comes from a man who was present in my life. Not a person I was romantically involved with but someone who knew me very well just for a short time.
"My name is Norafizah. So, Ora Fiza is also my name with the letters 'N' and 'H' removed in front and at the end. So, that's how Ora Fiza came to be," she said in a recent Harian Metro report.
The Kota Kinabalu-born talent has always been active in the industry and has found the right track to present as her new single.
"I've never gone away and have been actively performing. It's just that I haven't had the chance to release a new song. All this time, I wanted to make a comeback but was looking for material that suited my voice and my life journey.
"There were also those who offered me songs, however, the tunes were not suited to me. This time, my 'jodoh' lies with this particular song, titled 'Bangunlah', she said.
Created by John Jeeves and Shazriq Azeman, 'Bangunlah' presents a positive and inspiring message of Ora Fiza's strength and her journey in life.
