#SHOWBIZ: PESZTA returns for the third time, welcomes 5,000 visitors

KUALA LUMPUR: Held for the third time, the recent one-day Malaysia Day-themed festival, PESZTA 2024, welcomed almost 5,000 visitors.

The event was organised by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd, in partnership with Think City, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall, HEART Residences, Pentago House, SAM Mansion, Triptyk, the Zhongshan Building, as well as local artists and communities of Kampung Attap.

"This year, we've expanded our partnerships to include Stadium Merdeka and more of the surrounding communities, welcoming Hummingbird Travels, Sri Midas Corner, Regal Park Hotel, Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur Chinatown to join us in this celebration," said PNB Merdeka Ventures head of communications, Liza Maria Abdul Karim.

"Aimed at highlighting our nation's rich history, arts, music, food and cultural heritage, the festival offers a platform for local communities to showcase their talent and businesses while celebrating and promoting Malaysia's diversity," she said and added that the number of visitors kept increasing from year to year.

Liza further explained that while the name sounds like a stylised Malay word for festival, it was actually an acronym derived from the festival's key venues, namely Pentago House, Sam Mansion, and The Zhongshan Building.

"With the recent opening of Merdeka Stadium in August, we also included the iconic KL landmark for this year's event.

"Visitors had the chance to experience heritage tours and exhibitions there," she said of the restored venue.

While various activities and booths selling food and crafts from 11am to 6pm, the festival continued with its Concert Mantap Kampung Attap until 11.30pm.

An incredible lineup of local celebrities performed during the concert.

They included Ning Baizura, Leaism, NiceStupidPlayground, Plague of Happiness, Jo Linian, Blanco Mussic, and Salammusik.
