PNB's Peszta to return with larger turnout

KUALA LUMPUR: Peszta - a one-day event celebrating music, arts and culture - is set to return for its third edition on Sept 14 with expectations of a larger turnout.

The event, organised by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).

It is also in collaboration with Think City, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall (KLSCAH), Heart Residences, Pentago House, SAM Mansion, Triptyk, The Zhongshan Building and local communities from Kampung Attap.

PNB Merdeka chief executive officer Tengku Datuk Ab Aziz Tengku Mahmud said last year, the festival drew 4,000 visitors, marking an increase compared to its inaugural year.

"We anticipate an even larger turnout this year. We are especially excited to introduce the thematic concept of PLAY, which will offer engaging activities suitable for all ages, for friends and families to enjoy together.

"Our goal for Peszta 2024 is to create a more vibrant and interactive experience that allows visitors to connect with the local communities on a deeper level, showcasing their unique offerings," he said.

Ab Aziz added that what started as a small community festival has now grown to attract people from all over Malaysia and even tourists, encouraging them to explore the hidden treasures of local attractions.

The event provides opportunities for visitors to engage and explore as the festivities extend beyond Kampung Attap.

Attendees can enjoy heritage tours and exhibitions at Stadium Merdeka, celebrating its restoration to its former glory.

The festival will continue across prominent locations in Kampung Attap, including KLSCAH, Pentago House, Sam Mansion, The Zhongshan Building and Heart Residences.

Peszta is also a collaborative effort with the recipients of the Merdeka 118 Community Grants Programme, which has been active since its first cycle in 2021.

The celebration will conclude with the Mantap Kampung Attap concert from 6:00pm to 11:30pm.

It will feature performances by local bands and artists including Malaysian pop and R&B singer Ning Baizura, along with acts such as Leaism, SalamMusik, Nice Stupid Playground, Plague of Happiness, Blanco Music and Jo Lixian.
