#SHOWBIZ: BlackPink's Rosé inks deal with Atlantic Records, debut album in December

KUALA LUMPUR: Rosé of international K-pop sensation BlackPink recently announced that she has signed a global solo deal with Atlantic Records.

The 27-year-old singer-songwriter took to Instagram to share the news that she was now under the renowned American record label.

"Hi my number ones. I am so excited to announce to you my signing with @atlanticrecords!

"I know you've all waited so long for this moment, but I hope you're ready for what's in store for the next few months!

"I cannot wait for you all to hear everything! So hang on tight! Miss you all dearly," she wrote.

Rosé also encouraged fans to follow her separate Instagram account @vampirehollie "to get quick updates and cute moments from the team."

Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, the comely idol signed to YG Entertainment and trained with the label before she was selected as a member of BlackPink in 2016.

As a solo artiste, Rosé, whose real name is Roseanne Park, released her debut singles album R under Interscope and YG Entertainment in 2021, which featured the songs On the Ground and Gone.

Her new solo deal follows fellow BlackPink members Jennie, who has a solo deal with Columbia Records, and Lisa, who had signed to RCA Records in partnership with her own management company, Lloud.

Meanwhile, Rosé announced today that her first studio album, rosie, is set to be released on Dec 6.

"I cannot believe I am finally announcing my first album release to you all. I remember last year as our year-long tour ended, I found myself in a session out here in Los Angeles.

"That led on to a year of walking in and out of the studio, writing songs with songwriters and producers I'd met for the first time, trying to figure out the next chapter in my career.

"I fell asleep many nights feeling confused and lost.

"But with the support of my dear friends and family, my team, and of course my number ones, I sit here today excited to announce the date of my album release," she wrote in an Instagram post today.

Rosé added that she had poured her "blood and tears into this album".

"I cannot wait for you to listen to this little journal of mine. Rosie - is the name I allow my friends and family to call me.

"With this album, I hope you all feel that much closer to me. And yes, it's a full-length album," she said.
