LOCAL rock group Barbarik recently launched their debut album, 'Peluru Chokelat', though their plans for a dramatic helicopter arrival were foiled by bad weather.
The band, consisting of Muss (vocals), Jo Branko (guitar), Ainol (drums), and Rozaimi (bass), had originally planned to fly in from Subang to The Garage KL for the album launch and fan meeting session.
However, heavy rain on the morning of the event forced them to cancel the helicopter ride.
"We had intended to take a helicopter for a dramatic entrance, but the weather was not on our side.
"The helicopter ride from Subang to the venue only takes about 10 minutes, but we didn't want to risk it.
"We decided to drive to the venue instead, as safety is our priority," Jo Branko told Harian Metro.
Despite the setback, the event was a success. Barbarik sold 500 compact discs (CDs) and a variety of merchandise, including T-shirts and posters. The positive fan response was overwhelming.
"We're grateful for the feedback," said Jo Branko.
"We released a teaser for the album, and people were really excited. The most important thing is the music itself.
"Everyone has been saying that it's an album worth listening to. It blends both old and new styles, which makes it unique."
In addition to physical CDs, Barbarik also released the album in a USB card format with WAV files.
"We designed the USB art ourselves, and we're lucky to have friends who are good with technology," Muss added.
Recorded during Ramadan, 'Peluru Chokelat' features seven tracks.
Barbarik will hold a special album launch and showcase at the Hard Rock Cafe Kuala Lumpur on Dec 1.
