#SHOWBIZ: Search's Man Kidal saddened by netizen attacks on Amy

KUALA LUMPUR: Rock group Search's guitarist Man Kidal is saddened by netizens' recent criticism of vocalist, Datuk Suhaimi Abdul Rahman or Amy.

Man, 61, or Abdul Rahman Mahmood said in a Berita Harian report yesterday that such netizens were "rude and slanderous" as their attacks on Amy were personal.

"These individuals appear to have their own agendas. They are biased against Team Amy which is what they often call us," he said.

"What saddens me is their comments are rude and extreme."

Man added that the netizens had no respect for a rock legend who worked hard to become one of the country's foremost rock stars in the last four decades.

Man said that Amy did his utmost to entertain fans at the recent Search Symphonic Live In Kuala Lumpur Concert at the Mega Star Arena in Sungei Wang Plaza, Bukit Bintang.

"Amy's commitment to the concert was very high. We all worked hard to make the concert a success.

"For an individual who has reached the age of 66, Amy gave his best.

"Imagine, he sang alone for three hours. For a rock legend Amy doesn't even need to prove anything to fans."

Man urged netizens to refrain from making personal attacks on Amy and Search.

"I understand that some netizens said that Amy's performance of the song Pawana was not up to mark. In life we always do our best but we cannot satisfy everyone."

He called on rock music fans to be constructive and not destructive critics.

Man will be performing at the Legends Charity Concert organised by Persatuan Karyawan Malaysia at the Sabah International Convention Centre, Kota Kinabalu, on Nov 1.

"My involvement in this concert is a thank you to Karyawan. They helped me seek medical treatment not too long ago.

"Furthermore the concert is in aid of all needy artistes," said Man.

The Legends Charity Concert also features Datuk Ramli Sarip, Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim, Datuk Jamal Abdillah, Azharina Azhar, Ayu Damit, Jimmy Palikat and Mad Sabah.
