KUALA LUMPUR: Following its successful Malaysian box office run, Grand Brilliance Studio Sdn Bhd's horror sequel Anak Perjanjian Syaitan 2 premiered in Pakistan today, marking a significant milestone for the local film industry on the international stage.
Released under the title Gunah (sin), the urdu version of the film secured screenings across 38 cinemas in Pakistan, surpassing the reach of other well-known foreign horror films like Turkey's Sijjin (35 locations) and Indonesia's Pemandi Jenazah (25 locations).
Director and producer Ahmad Idham Ahmad Nadzri expressed pride in the film's international presence, attributing this success to the collaborative efforts of all involved parties, including distributor Primeworks Studios Sdn Bhd and the National Film Development Corporation (Finas).
"I extend my gratitude to everyone who supported this project, from our production and distribution teams to the talented cast that brought the story to life," he said in a recent statement.
Featuring a strong Islamic theme, the film captured the interest of Pakistani distributors, and Ahmad Idham hopes it will perform well in Pakistan.
He also announced plans for the film's release in Cambodia, with specific details on dates and cinema numbers to follow.
Ahmad Idham sees this as a promising step for Malaysian cinema, potentially paving the way for broader international recognition.
Anak Perjanjian Syaitan 2, which premiered in Malaysia on Jan 4, has already grossed RM3.5 million across 100 cinemas.
The cast includes Eyka Farhana, Alif Satar, Azizah Mahzan, Shahruddin Thamby, Fasha Sandha, Dian P Ramlee, and Azlan Komeng.
