SINGER-SONGWRITER Timur Flores recently released 'Between My Sheets', her latest single which blends the soothing rhythms of classical ballads with upbeat new age pop and disco.
Her latest song chronicles the romance between two lovers through the seasons.
In a recent statement, Timur said: "'Between My Sheets' follows a romantic relationship, which steadily develops into an everlasting love and blossoms through the seasons.
"The lyrics 'spend an entire year' before reaching the bridge to the final chorus.
"This transition signifies entry into a new year, where the romantic couple's love for each other remains as strong as when they first met."
In addressing rumours that the song was about her finding Mr Right, Timur said: "'Between My Sheets' was actually inspired by my cat! It's got nothing to do with my love life.
"The inspiration came one morning when I saw my adorable cat basking under the sun, and the light was dancing gently on her face.
"I quickly recorded a voice note and continued cuddling her.
"It might sound silly to some, but the emotional bond that we have with our furry friends is the purest form of love, and it is everlasting""
Timur arrived on the Malaysian music scene in 2022 with her debut single 'Not A Criminal', a dance number in English, Malay and Mandarin.
Dubbed a "beauty with brains and loads of talent", the 29-year-old Oxford graduate of Swiss and Malaysian Chinese parentage collaborated with Swedish music producer Gustav Efraimsson and his fellow pop-dance songwriters from Sweden — Hayden Bell (Super Junior, EXO), Ronny Svendsen (Girl's Generation) and Anne Judith (Kylie Minogue) to come up with the single.
The explosive music videos were directed by Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim of KRU and featured Timur — who created her own slick and adrenaline-pumping choreography — as a female Robin Hood in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, who always managed to give law enforcers the slip.
Timur also played multiple instruments in the song, namely the piano, saxophone, drums and guitar, and danced beautifully to the aggressive music.
Timur, the second of three siblings, grew up in Kuala Lumpur and learnt to play various musical instruments during her pre-teen and teenage years, beginning with the piano.
"My parents and siblings all love music as much as I do. However, I ended up becoming the pioneer musician amongst us," said Timur, adding that she was also active in dance, athletics and tennis back then.
Timur studied engineering up to postgraduate level at Oxford University and described herself as a perfectionist who "gave her all" to everything she did.
"In fact, my elder brother and younger sister also graduated as engineers from Oxford. In the family, being a high-achiever is more or less the norm, as we all can handle pressure well and channel it into good work."
As a big fan of dance music, Timur counts K-pop acts Super Junior, BlackPink, BTS and EXO as her favourite bands.
Timur also sang 'Roar', the theme song for Johor Darul Ta'zim Football Club's 2021 jersey launch.
Currently enjoying her freedom as an independent artiste, she has vowed to embark on a refreshed direction, sound and more collaborations with top-notch musicians and producers.
'Between My Sheets' is available on all major music streaming platforms and YouTube.
