KUALA LUMPUR: Comedian and entrepreneur Shuib is preparing to take legal action against a TikTok user accused of making false allegations about his beverage company, Bubblebee Sdn Bhd.
Shuib, whose real name is Shahmira Muhamad, 40, stated that the baseless accusations have caused his company to incur losses amounting to millions of ringgit.
"I will take legal action against a TikTok user whose statements have crossed the line. When discussing the founders of a product, one must consider the impact on the individual and the brand.
"If the consequences are negative and result in losses, it's unfair to me and my company, especially since the accusations are baseless. My business involves investors and transactions worth millions of ringgit.
"If his statements cause us to lose millions, I am within my rights to take action—not to teach others a lesson, but to teach him personally that social media statements should not be taken lightly," he said at a press conference on the Bocey Comeback Live in Singapore.
"I'm used to handling such matters in court, and those involved often end up bowing their heads in shame, speaking nervously," he added.
Recently, Shuib's company faced 18 charges of failing to pay service tax, including penalties amounting to RM1.6 million to the Customs Department last year.
The company, along with two of its directors, Shuib and Koh Choon Guan, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court in Shah Alam.
Previously, Bubblebee, Shuib, and Koh were fined RM17,500 by the Shah Alam magistrate's court after they pleaded guilty to seven charges, including overdue Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributions last year.
