#SHOWBIZ: Report workplace bullying to authorities, says Fahmi Fadzil

ARTISTES who feel mistreated or bullied while working should lodge a police report, says Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

Addressing claims of bullying among new talents on set, Fahmi emphasised the importance of mutual respect in the industry.

"I've looked into this matter. Everyone involved in production — not just the actors — deserves to be treated with respect,' he said during a press conference after inaugurating the 33rd Malaysia Film Festival (FFM) at Finas recently.

Fahmi also encouraged victims of workplace bullying to take legal action.

"If anyone feels mistreated, they have the right to lodge a police report. From a legal standpoint, this is the proper course of action."

He also called for greater diplomacy to maintain harmony in the film industry.

"I urge everyone to reconcile and learn from these incidents. Our industry is small, and many of us work together repeatedly.

"It's essential to treat each other fairly," Fahmi added.

The controversy arose after a new actor alleged that a supporting talent was bullied on set.

However, senior directors and actors have denied the claim, describing the situation as part of the learning process newcomers face.
