#SHOWBIZ: Celebration of rhythm at Festival of Drums and Percussion Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The Festival of Drums and Percussion Malaysia is set to bring an exhilarating blend of rhythms and cultural harmony to Dewan Seri Budiman, UiTM Shah Alam, on Dec 7.

This one-day music festival will feature a vibrant lineup of performances, workshops, clinics, and an All-Star Show Gala Concert.

Drum enthusiasts and music lovers can catch artiste such as Arthur Kam, Batteryheadz Percussion, Datuk Zainal Abidin, Kamrul Hussin, Lola, XPDC, Pa'ang Zaman, Rie Tsuji, Sān Percussion, Steve Thornton, Gong, Ujang of Exists, and more in action.

Celebrated guitarist Aznan Alias, who is also music director for Datuk M Nasir, highlights the festival's workshops as the event's standout feature.

"This is a unique opportunity for music lovers and students to gain valuable knowledge and interact closely with top musicians.

"With eight clinics available, participants will leave inspired and informed," he said in a statement today.

Popular bassist and music lecturer Fly Halizor emphasised the festival's networking opportunities.

"Visitors will learn across various genres while enjoying a concert packed with professional Malaysian musicians and singers," he said.

Pa'ang Zaman humorously remarked, "This festival shouldn't be missed because there's Ujang Exists, and there's me!"

Rie Tsuji added: "I'll perform Sakura, a traditional Japanese song, and a re-arranged version of Imagine by John Lennon. Expect something special."

Ujang of Exists invited fans to experience both day and evening programmes.

"The Gala Concert will feature unique collaborations. Don't miss Ujang & Friends for a one-of-a-kind performance!"

Organised by JS Music, the festival aims to spotlight the art of percussion while promoting Malaysia's creative industry.

The All-Star Show Gala Concert, blending modern, Latin, and traditional percussion with Orkestra Tradisional Malaysia, will close the event on a high note.
