#SHOWBIZ: Sheila Majid becomes victim of fake news

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Datuk Sheila Majid expressed her disappointment after her image and name were manipulated by irresponsible parties to spread fake news.

In an Instagram post, the 59-year-old singer shared a screenshot of a doctored photo of herself, appearing as though she was being escorted by police, accompanied by a fake headline: "Police arrested Sheila Majid after her speech on economic opportunities for the people."

"Astaghfirullahalazim... This is malicious. What is their motive?" she wrote.

Sheila described the act as a malicious deed and urged the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take firm action.

Netizens and fellow artistes also condemned the despicable act.

Previously, Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Alif Satar were also victims of fake news with a similar modus operandi.
