KUALA LUMPUR: The wife of actor and comedian Along Cham, Afreena Suhaimi, has opened up about her emotional turmoil following her husband's detention over two charges of marijuana possession.
Despite battling anxiety and exhaustion, Afreena remains steadfast in her resolve to support him.
"I'm anxious right now. What wife wouldn't be sad when her husband is in such a situation?
"Of course, I feel tired, but I must be strong for our children.
"Whatever happens, I must face this," said Afreena, 32, when met outside the Sessions Court, here earlier today.
Pledging unwavering support, she emphasised her commitment to standing by her husband, whose real name is Muhammad Nizamuddin Ahmad.
"Along Cham is still my husband, and I will always be with him no matter what.
"I will fight for him and defend his rights. No wife wants to see her husband in pain.
"Biy, hang in there. I promise you will come out, and we will live happily together," she said emotionally.
Along's lawyer, Mohd Fadly Hashim, assured that his client remains strong and that every effort would be made to manage the case effectively.
This morning, Along, 41, was charged in two separate courts with marijuana possession.
At the Sessions Court, he was accused of possessing 58.23 grams of marijuana at a residence in Cyber 9, Cyberjaya, on Dec 14 last year.
This charge falls under Section 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 39A(2), which carries a sentence of life imprisonment or a minimum of five years and ten lashes.
At the Magistrate's Court, Along was charged with possessing 2.07 grams of marijuana under Section 6 of the same act.
He pleaded not guilty to both charges.
