#SHOWBIZ: Actor Andy Teh touched by the story of Uncle Mike

KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Andy Teh, 40, shared his excitement and emotional connection to portraying Michael Tong Wai Siong, fondly known as Uncle Mike, in the upcoming film Abah Saya, Uncle Mike.

The story highlights Uncle Mike's journey raising three Malay adopted children – Rafei Ahmad Fauzi, Rasyid, and Abdul Rahman – despite differences in religion and culture.

Andy admitted he was initially unaware of Uncle Mike's story.

"When the role was offered, I immediately researched on YouTube and other platforms to learn about him. The moment I understood his journey, I was moved to tears. It's such a beautiful story," he told Harian Metro.

Determined to honour the inspiring character, Andy pledged to give "200 per cent" commitment to his portrayal.

"I feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity. Stories like Uncle Mike's deserve to be shared widely, and films are the perfect platform to do that," he added.

Directed by Ezrie Gazali, Abah Saya, Uncle Mike is set to begin filming after Chinese New Year.

The project aims to celebrate the unifying power of love and humanity, as exemplified by Uncle Mike's devotion to his children.

Uncle Mike's story was first reported in Harian Metro last May, showcasing how his steadfast care helped his three adopted sons achieve success, proving that family transcends boundaries.
