KUALA LUMPUR: After news of her engagement to Khairil Amri came to light today, actress Wanna Ali has clarified that the ceremony had taken place last year.
Speaking to Harian Metro, the 28-year-old artiste said that she was engaged to Khairil Amri on Nov 9 last year, but chose to share the happy news today.
"We actually had an engagement ceremony on Nov 9 last year, but only shared this news today.
"Alhamdulillah, after praying in Makkah to find the right soul mate, I finally met a man named Khairil Amri.
"Regarding the wedding date, I will announce it later," she said.
Wanna added that she had known Khairil Amri, who is the son of former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, since last year.
"He became aware of my existence after my friend uploaded a photo of me on his social media account.
"At that time, he asked my friend to invite me out to eat. I declined his invitation several times, but finally I agreed.
"After a few months of getting to know each other, we realised we had something in common, which was that we were ready to take the step to get married.
"I've also told him before that if this introduction is just for fun, I don't want to waste time.
"However, he has shown sincerity and determination to get married," she said.
Earlier today, Wanna shared pictures of her engagement on the Threads app which saw her dressed elegantly in a light blue baju kurung together with her future husband.
The daughter of popular producer Datin Normashayu Puteh captioned the entry with: "Alhamdulillah, getting closer. Two hearts, one promise, a lifetime together. Pray for us."
The couple's wedding is rumoured to take place in the near future.
