STROKE survivors from the B40 community can receive free rehab care at the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM) thanks to sponsorship from Yayasan Hasanah.
The rehab offer is open to only 300 participants on a first-come, first-served basis and started a month ago. It is available at any of NASAM's nine centres located in PJ, Ampang, Malacca, Johor, Kuantan, Perak, Penang, Kedah and Sabah. Each participant will undergo a stroke specific rehab care programme.
Initially a stroke assessment will be carried out. This will include establishing the stroke survivor's medical and rehabilitation background, mobility and difficulties in movement and rehab expectations and goals. Then, NASAM will customise a rehab programme to help the stroke survivor towards recovery.
