THE first robotic-assisted surgery in Melaka – a robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy, took place recently at Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh.
Prostatectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the prostate gland, seminal vesicles and occasionally, the nearby lymph nodes, in patients with prostate cancer.
Robotic-assisted surgery is fast proving to be an effective treatment option for patients with prostate cancer, leading to faster recovery.
"With the robotic-assisted surgical system, surgeons are able to operate
with greater precision and stability, resulting in better outcomes such as reduced blood loss, less pain and faster recovery," says Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh consultant urologist Dr Yang Jin Rong.
Integrating the precision of robotics with the expertise of surgeons, enables the execution of a wide array of minimally invasive surgeries with exceptional accuracy and efficiency, surpassing the limitations of human hands, says Pantai Hospital Ayer Keroh chief executive officer Tan Yew Aik.
Robotic-assisted surgery also helps to enhance patient outcomes and set new standards for surgical excellence, adds Tan.
