#JOM GO: For a splashing good time

NATURE lovers who are up for a short weekend getaway that includes a splashing good time can check out these amazing and beautiful waterfall spots in Selangor.

1. Sungai Tekala

Sungai Tekala is located about 14km from Semenyih in the district of Hulu Langat and about 50km from Kuala Lumpur.

The Sungai Tekala Recreation Park, which was established in 1982, is an ideal getaway for camping and relaxing with family and friends.

The park is equipped with decent facilities which include food stalls, prayer room, washrooms and gazebos.

If you are planning to stay overnight, you can rent a chalet at Sungai Tekala or a set up your own tent at the camping site.

Entrance to the park is priced at RM2 for adults and RM1 for kids.

2. Kanching Waterfall

Formerly known as Kanching Recreational Forest, this famous waterfall spot sits between the town of Rawang and Kuala Lumpur.

This forest is managed by Tourism Selangor and is home to seven beautiful waterfalls. It is also home to a huge family of monkeys.

It has a beginner-friendly jungle trekking trail.

The entrance fee is RM1 per person. For those who are driving, there is a parking facility here with a rate of RM2 parking fee.

3. Lata Medang

This waterfall is located in Kampung Pertak, Kuala Kubu Baru.

It is adjacent to the Kampung Orang Asli.

To get to the waterfall, you need to go through a relatively easy hiking trail. Bonus: you’ll be amazed by the beautiful scenery enroute to the waterfall.

Entrance fee is RM1 per person, which is used to maintain the facilities here.

4. Sungai Pisang Waterfall

This waterfall is situated along the Karak Highway. To get there, you will have to start trekking from Jungle Lodge, situated along the old Gombak Road to Genting Highland.

The journey to the waterfall will take about an hour of trekking which include a couple of river crossings, and a hike through the 100-year-old forest.

5. Sungai Chiling

Sungai Chiling is one of the most stunning and beautiful waterfalls in Selangor.

It takes about an hour of hiking to get to the waterfall.

The waterfall and the river are a part of the Mahseer Fish Sanctuary managed by the Selangor Fisheries Department and Selangor Forestry Department.

Sungai Chiling waterfall has three levels but only the first level is open to the public.
