KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor marked their first Super League match without coach Nidzam Jamil, who has resigned, with a 1-0 win over Kedah in Alor Star today (Nov 2).
Caretaker coach Abdi Hassan, who earned his first three points in his first match, rolled out a first 11 lineup that deviated from the norm.
The return of key players such as Faisal Halim, captain Safuwan Baharudin and Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi also brought renewed energy to the squad.
But Selangor were still without crocked imports Alvin Fortes, Ronnie Fernandez and Noor Al-Rawabdeh.
In the 47th minute, Selangor got that all important winner through substitute Aliff Izwan Yuslan, who made an instant impact after coming on for Faisal.
The victory kept the Red Giants in second place in the table with 29 points from 14 matches.
In Temerloh, the match between Sri Pahang and Kuching City was halted in the 31st minute due to rain and thunder. Yuki Tanigawa had given the Cats the lead in the 14th minute.
Police posted their fourth straight draw after being held 1-1 by Perak at the Selayang Municipal Stadium.
The Cops shot into the lead in 56th minute, but the Silver State levelled the score in the 68th minute.
