#JOM: HARRIS Hotel is coming to Kulim: What you need to know about this exciting new development

KULIM Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) is set for an economic boost with the announcement of a new 4-star hotel! The developer, Beaver Properties Group, and Kulim Technology Park Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (KTPC) are excited to unveil an upcoming greenfield development in KHTP.

Beaver Properties Group recently signed an agreement with Ascott International Management (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Ascott) to introduce the first HARRIS-branded hotel in the area. This initiative aims to invigorate the local economy and attract new business to KHTP.

Slated to open in 2027, HARRIS Hotel Kulim will be a key feature of the "Beaver Midtown Kulim" (BMK) integrated development project. The hotel will offer 216 deluxe rooms, along with one-bedroom and two-bedroom units to meet various guest needs, with a particular focus on MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) facilities. The 9.6-acre Beaver Midtown Kulim will also include 41 commercial units, purpose-built office spaces and three drive-thru units, making it a major commercial hub in KHTP.

With a gross development value of approximately RM250 million, the "Beaver Midtown Kulim" project is expected to significantly boost the regional economy and create around 2,000 jobs, enhancing KHTP's commercial viability. The project has attracted significant interest from both the real estate and industrial sectors and is seen as a crucial addition to the KHTP ecosystem.

The Management Agreement for this development was signed between Beaver Scott Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Beaver Properties Group and Ascott, a leading lodging operator and a wholly owned business unit of Capitaland Investment Limited based in Singapore.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Datuk Haji Mohd Sahil Zabidi, group chief executive officer (CEO) of KTPC. Under this agreement, Ascott will manage the HARRIS Hotel Kulim, adding to its portfolio of 19 operational serviced residences and hotels across Malaysia.

At the ceremony, Mohd Sahil highlighted that KHTP is currently home to 42 multinational manufacturing companies, employing approximately 34,000 people. He's optimistic about future growth and believes the addition of the HARRIS Hotel will greatly benefit both expatriates and locals by reducing the need for extensive travel.

Kevin Goh, CEO of The Ascott Limited, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration and his confidence that the HARRIS Hotel will offer a fresh and dynamic experience to visitors of KHTP.

Oon Chai Sheng, the group director as well as the sales & marketing director of Beaver Properties Group, highlighted that in addition to the HARRIS Hotel, Beaver Midtown Kulim will feature an approximately 1-acre greenery park designed by an international landscape architect, enhancing the overall aesthetic of KHTP.

The Beaver Midtown Kulim development will also include three drive-thru concept chain stores, 41 units of three-story semi-detached shop offices, and one five-story detached shop office. The lush greenery park will serve as a finishing touch, adding to the visual appeal of the Kulim Hi-Tech Park.

Among those present at the signing ceremony were Oon Cheng Sang, CEO of Beaver Group; Oon Yong Sheng and Oon Foo Sheng, directors of Beaver Group; Ooi Chok Siew, legal advisor; and Ong Keng Pin, architect.

Representing Ascott were Goh, Wong Kar Ling, managing director; Serena Lim, chief development specialist; Law Zhe Wen, assistant vice president of Business Development; Shaun Yee, senior manager of Business Development; and other officials.

With the introduction of the HARRIS Hotel and the comprehensive Beaver Midtown Kulim development, KHTP is poised to become an even more vibrant and attractive destination for business and leisure.

As this ambitious project progresses, it promises to transform KHTP into a bustling hub of activity, bringing new opportunities and a fresh wave of innovation to the region.
