Panasonic introduces unique 'nanoeX' technology to combat haze

PANASONIC is taking a significant step in addressing the recurring haze issue in Southeast Asia with its latest nanoeX technology for air purification.

The leading global electronics company unveiled the technology during a recent press conference.

This comes following a collaboration with the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) to explore effective solutions that ensure safer, cleaner indoor air for households and businesses during the haze season.

OVERCOMING HAZE THREAT

Haze, a significant issue in Southeast Asia, is driven by factors such as forest fires, agricultural burning and industrial emissions.

These pollutants, often invisible to the naked eye, present serious health risks and economic challenges.

Among the harmful substances associated with haze are polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), which have been linked to respiratory problems, cardiovascular diseases and cancer.

During the press conference, Panasonic Corporation's QAFL Business Promotion Center managing director Ichiro Suganuma, emphasised the company's commitment to advancing public health through innovation.

"Our nanoeX technology is one of our initiatives, developed to tackle air quality issues like haze, ensuring safer, healthier spaces at home and in the office. This innovation reflects our dedication to addressing current challenges while thinking about the future through building a better world for generations to come," he noted.

The nanoeX technology developed by Panasonic has been proven to significantly reduce the presence of PAHs during haze periods, mitigating the harmful effects these particles have on indoor environments.

Professor Dr Sheikh Ahmad Zaki, who supervised the study, shared that the technology offers a critical solution to improve indoor air quality.

"Through this study, we found that nanoeX can inhibit PAHs contained in haze. Based on these results, nanoeX is expected to be a technology that can mitigate health damage caused by haze and improve indoor environments," he said.

A few product demonstrations were also conducted during the press conference, showcasing how nanoeX technology effectively improves indoor air quality by purifying the surrounding air.
